2009 Auction Results

$1074. A very satisfying outcome, fourth highest in our nine year auction history. The generosity of our members and friends in donating and bidding is particularly notable in light of an uncertain economy. Last year's big spender, Hal Sanford was unable to attend this year, so the accolade "most generous bidder" returned to member Lon Irwin. Attendance out was light at first, but grew until about 8:00pm when it seemed the room was full. We saw several "members in hiding": Damon Davies, Ed Kelly, Sean Lux, Michael Orme and Sacramento member Art Silen. I even saw brief appearances by Rees Gwillim and Tom Berto.
It was a LONG evening. The house lights were being turned off around 10:30 as we were paying up and packing out. There were just over 200 lots auctioned and I'm sure a record number of individual items. We had two very generous donations this year. Allen Jones of Walnut Creek donated some 150 - 200 1/72 aircraft models, many WWI and limited production kits. (Allen is not a local member, but loves our Expo and thought of us when he thinned his stash.) Rees Gwillim also culled his collection of about 50 large scale aircraft, spacecraft, cars, motorcycles, human heads and scorpions. Mark Foreman reclaimed some more shelf space by donating about 25 armor books and a few models. Plus, numerous other members brought in all sorts of goodies on the night of the auction so there was something for everyone.
Our thanks to all the donors and bidder for supporting the Hobby Expo and IPMS Santa Rosa.
