IPMS SANTA ROSA AND IPMS MT. DIABLO PRESENT HOBBY EXPO 2008
Hello Fellow Modeler's
Well there is only one more day before Hobby Expo 2008.
IPMS Santa Rosa and IPMS Mt. Diablo would like to invite you and your friends to the biggest hobby event in the north bay area.
This years theme is "Making History". As we build a model, we are literally "Making History" - even if only in miniature. Not only do we create a replica of an historical object, we also cannot help but learn about its design, its purpose, its heroes and their achievements. In short, we once again bring that piece of history back to life. This is a wide open theme that is available to almost everyone to enter. We expect to have at least a dozen hobby clubs at the expo again this year including demonstrations from model railroads, RC planes, ships and cars, sail planes, battling robots, war gaming, military displays and much more.
Last year we had about twenty five vendors and we expect to have at least that many this year selling kits, decals and books.
There will be a free Make and Take model and Lego build for the kids going on most of the day.
And our annual crowd favorite the Speed Model Build contest. This contest consists of 10 participants who try to build and paint a much of the mystery kit as possible in one hour. Entry is free first come first served. And by the way there is a $50.00 first prize to the winner. Models to be judged by IPMS members.
We are also planning a really outstanding Raffle. If you attended last years expo then you know how good our raffle was and is still talked about. We are going to have just as many or more great items this year including two airbrushes and many of the newest kits that are currently on the market right now. There will be no junk at this raffle! We will be holding 3 raffles through out the day with a total of 60 raffle prizes to be handed out!! Tickets are $1.00 each.
And of course our Scale Model Contest with over 40 Senior and Junior categories with 3 awards per category. Plus 10 special awards that will include famous autographs on the awards including Francis Gary Powers (U-2 shoot down), General Ben Davis (Commander of the Tuskegee Airman) and Wing Commander Joseph McCarthy (American Dam Buster pilot) and many more.

Please bring as many models as possible to enter into the contest and if you do not want to enter the contest bring them for display only.
You don't want to miss this one as it is shaping up to be one of the best of the year!
