Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5 WalkaroundLocation: New Zealand Fighter Pilots Museum, Wanaka Airport, New Zealand Date: 2004 Commentary: Doug Dropeskey Photographer: Greg Reynolds The Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5 (Scout Experimental 5) was a British biplane fighter aircraft of the First World War. Although a few S.E.5s reached the Western Front before the Sopwith Camel, engine manufacturing problems prevented widespread use until well into 1918. Though it uses many original parts, experts consider this aircraft a replica. It was built in England, approximately 14 years ago (1994), and includes an original propellor and instruments. You can find more information about this aircraft in the Wikipedia. For more information about the New Zealand Fighter Pilots Museum, please visit their website.
