Hawker Hurricane collection by Pat Nichols![]() Pat's been in a groove recently and has finished a nice collection of 1/72 Hurricanes. They are all pretty much "out of the box", but done with Pat's usual finesse! ![]() "V-UZ" is the Hasegawa MK.I. It has the Aries resin interior set and AeroMaster decals. The paints are Humbrol's Dark Green, Xtracolor's Dark Earth and Sky. Pat used Testor's Clear and Dullcote for the undercoat and finish on all the models. The markings are for the 306th "Torunski" (Polish) squadron at Kirton-in-Lindsey, 1942. ![]() "UF-Y" is the new 1/72 Revell Mk.II completed as the "Hurri-Bomber" option. The Dark Green is Testors, the Ocean and Medium Greys are Xtracolor. This aircraft is from the 601rst squadron. ![]() Pat's Russian Hurricane is also the Revell kit. The paints are the same as for "UF-Y". The decals are AeroMaster. The Soviet Union operated nearly 3000 Hurricanes during the war. This one belonged to Sub. Lt. Ivan Babanin (a.k.a, the "Lone Wolf") of the 609 IAP in East Carelia, April 1942. The inscriptions read: "For Stalin" on this side and "For the Fatherland" on the other. Overall, Pat reports that the Revell kit is easier to build and is more accurate than the Hasegawa. All photographs copyright by photographer. All rights reserved.
