John AdmireWorkbench ![]() My workspace isn't just IN the garage, it IS the garage. I took over the whole thing. There is one long homemade workbench against the wall, shelves for the models and books, plus carpeting, stereo, TV, VCR, surround sound - the works. This is my sanctuary where I can get away from everything. I started modeling when I was a kid, but have been a "serious" modeler for only the last 12 years or so. I have modeled just about everything, but lately it's been mostly 1/35 scale armor. A recent favorite was Tamiya's 1/35 Challenger II. In spite of working in a relatively large scale, my favorite tools are fine point tweezers and opto-visor. Mostly I use Polyscale paint. I like the great way it hand-brushes. I do use an airbrush most of the time, a single action Paache. I've also got a double action Badger 360, which can feed from the bottom or top, but I haven't mastered it yet. I don't have a ventilated spray booth, just a respirator and fan. I have not been a member of any model club before IPMS Santa Rosa. In fact, I have only been to one model competition which was our club's show last May. I really enjoyed myself and decided that I was going to find others that enjoyed the same hobby as myself. So this is sort of a coming out of the closet... or in my case the garage (ha-ha!) by joining the club and getting involved in it.
