2008 Model Auction

2008 IPMS Santa Rosa Auction

Bargains galore! Thanks to the generous donations of items and generous bidding of members and friends, 146 lots were auctioned, which raised $1016. There was so much stuff that many kits and books were auctioned two, three and sometimes four at a time. The number of individual items auctioned was probably around 350. 1/32 and 1/48 scale aircraft kits dominated the block, but there were kits of ALL sorts and scales (even wood!) as well as books, magazines, decals, DVD's, and modeling supplies. Some of the more unusual items: Tamiya canned bread (Yes, THAT Tamiya. Real bread, in a can. It's Japanese, it doesn't have to make sense.) a 1/6 working scale model of a floor fan (ditto - Japanese) and 1/72 scale cactus. The title of "Most Frequent Bidder" is shared this year. Hal Sanford, in surprise last minute spree, tied incumbent Lon Irwin.

IPMS Santa Rosa would like to extend thanks to each and every person who contributed models, books, and supplies to the auction. We also wish to thank everyone who attended the auction. The money generated from your generous contributions and bids helps make Hobby Expo such a great annual event.

Special thanks to this year's auctioneers, John Admire, Pat Nichols, and Mike Winters. Your contributions of time and effort allow this event to proceed so smoothly.

Finally, the club extends thanks to all of the board members and supporting personnel who worked behind the scenes to orchestrate this event. Their efforts allow the auction to proceed so smoothly, bringing members together, allowing attendees to score such great deals, and generating money for the club coffers:
President John Admire, chief event coordinator and auctioneer
Vice President Mike Winters, event coordinator and auctioneer
Secretary Brett Halby, event coordinator and keeper of the auction stash
Treasurer Greg Reynolds, event coordinator, auction bookkeeper, and keeper of the rest of the auction stash
Pat Nichols, auctionner
Jae Rickets, assistant to the Treasurer during the auction

If you want to see all of these funds in action, make sure to attend Hobby Expo 2008!
